Located in Curecanti National Recreation Area is the Blue Mesa Reservoir. The 20-mile long reservoir is the largest in the state and is a popular recreation area for anglers, boaters, hikers, campers, and swimmers. 

This Junction is the connection to the West Elk Loop Scenic & Historic Byway, a 204-mile loop. Head west on US Hwy toward the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Closest services are found in the City of Gunnison, nine miles to the east on US Hwy 50.
